If you are new to me or the web site, I've been a counselor for quite a while. Although my "type" of counseling is considered "solution oriented", I would also describe it as conversive. I rarely only ask questions and await a response. We talk. I love what I do, and hopefully have gained some degree of expertise along the way. A solution-oriented therapist
John Sommer has been a therapist since 1977 and has been providing counseling services at his Brownwood facility since 1987. John married his dream girl in 1974 and has been happily living out his life with her in the heart of Texas ever since. He is a family man who cherished every moment raising their three beautiful children and has recently found his second wind chasing his six young grandsons and two twin granddaughters around the house every time they visit.
John prides himself on working hard for his clients. He knows that each client is a paying customer and deserves his very best attention and problem-solving skills. He is a "solution-oriented" therapist which means that while he understands that past events are extremely significant in a person's perceptions and behaviors, that focusing on the solution to a given issue is the keystone to working past it.
John specializes in assisting clients with a wide range problem areas such as child and adult issues, family, social and emotional issues in juveniles, relationships, and depression. He also works with non-problem issues as well, including prenuptial counseling, marriage enhancement and assertive training. Over his many years running his own practice, he has become heavily involved in the counseling community and holds memberships and certifications in a variety of highly regarded organizations. He thoroughly enjoys his work, and hopes to utilize his myriad of experiences to continue doing good therapy for years to come.
